Transgender Troops in the US military Face Tough Choice to self identify As Deadline Looms on June 6th

The time has not yet come and the world is not ready yet for transgender soldiers in combat units!

How much do transgender individuals influence combat readiness and military professionalism etc.? Similar questions were asked before lesbian and gay soldiers were integrated into military services. Would a policy like Don't ask, don't tell (introduced in 1994) suffice again?

The trouble with transgender is it crosses gender lines (unlike LG in LGBTQ) and it is highly asymmetric meaning there are apparently significantly more transgender females than transgender males. Which is in itself very peculiar.

Then you have to distinguish between office bound soldiers (bureaucrats, pencil pushers) and active military duty soldiers (see e.g. photo below).

Transgender Troops Face Tough Choice As Deadline Looms "Active-duty transgender troops have until June 6 to identify themselves and begin the voluntary separation process or wait and risk involuntary separation later—even as questions linger over how that decision might affect their security clearances for future employment."

Lieutenant Colonel Bree Fram is currently the highest ranking out transgender officer in the Department of Defense (in 2021). (Source)
