One would think, what I describe here is well known to many! However, the enormous and often fanatic agitation and propaganda surrounding these subjects proves otherwise!
There are over 3 million birth and over 900,000 abortions per year in the U.S. Thus, every 1 in 4 pregnancies is terminated by abortion. That is way too much! Abortion as a means of birth control or contraception?
Women's rights advocates, feminists and others claim the burden of birth control lies mostly with women, because men refuse vasectomy and condoms. If I am not mistaken, vasectomy is not easily reversible. What are the health consequences and sexual experiences with vasectomy? In the battle of the sexes, some women try to put the burden on men! Men watch out!
Even Planned Parenthood describes long lasting contraceptives for women that are available and presumably fairly harmless: "Long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) are the most effective methods of birth control. LARCs include the copper Paragard IUD, the hormonal (progesterone) Mirena IUD, and the hormonal contraceptive implant (effective for 10, 5 and 3 years, respectively). ... IUDs and implants are reversible - any time you decide to become pregnant, you can have them removed. These methods need to be removed by a health care provider. ..."
Why are these long acting contraceptives not more used by women in the U.S.? Are they too expensive? Do women not know about it? Do they require a prescription?
