With better, less power hungry hardware, we can expect more and faster advances in AI (artificial intelligence) & machine learning.
Neuromorphic computing might be one avenue of research to make it happen. Just happened to come across this interesting article: Ultralow power artificial synapses using nanotextured magnetic Josephson junctions (published 1/26/2018)
Some open questions:
- How much should we attempt to mimic the brain with technology or whether other technological approaches are better
- Hardware vs. software vs biological computing
