A Short Term Goal: One Digital World Library

This Could Be the Eighth Wonder Of The World

What is conceivably a greater achievement for humanity, a mission to Mars or a digital world library?

From The Theoretical To The Practical

Theoretically, we would need only one library to store digital copies of all written works ever published on this planet.
In the near future, most public libraries could be closed once this kind of digital library exists. Preferably, it should be a private enterprise.

Any Publication, Any Time, Anywhere, By Anyone

With ubiquitous Internet access, any human being could read any book or other written artifact ever published from home or portable computer only limited by, e.g., language barriers.

A Boost To Scientific Research

Literary research would be possible at an unprecedented scale. Scientific research across disciplines, time etc. would be possible by scientists as well as lay people.

Software could summarize, translate, juxtapose, index, and so on every written piece of work.
