Atmospheric water harvesting. Really!

Another bad idea whose time has come? Small scale possible, large scale doubtful!

A similar bad idea is the recently also rediscovered geothermal energy extraction.

Recently, there have been a number of new research articles on this subject.

What are the weather, climate, and environmental consequences of water harvesting from the atmosphere?

"Atmospheric water harvesters—devices that collect liquid water from humidity—are becoming somewhat more practical thanks to advancements in materials like hydrogels and metal-organic frameworks. One research team from UC Berkeley is now exploring using the devices to collect water using heat generated by data centers."
