My latest online order with and delivery from Walmart became almost a disaster

In early April 2025, I ordered about 8 common household items (e.g. A/C filters, water filter replacements, new kitchen towels, a new vacuum cleaner, some personal care items etc.). Nothing out of the ordinary.

I thought, I made abundantly clear that my order was to be fulfilled only by curbside pickup in person from our nearest Walmart Supercenter. Unfortunately, Walmart die not think so!

This whole experience with this online order became rather stressful, chaotic and inconvenient.

What did Walmart do to screw several times?

  1. Perhaps the biggest issue is that Walmart appears to try to mimic Amazon by offering way too many items online from Walmart itself and third parties.
  2. During my online ordering, Walmart failed to make me aware that some items could not be ordered online even though they were available on the store shelf.
  3. Walmart also sent way too many messages about the processing/progress of my order without asking me if I like it or not.
  4. Walmart also failed to ask me whether the fulfillment of my order was high priority and urgent to me. So Walmart apparently treated my order as if it had to be fulfilled in the fastest possible way. It was not. I would have gladly waited longer.
  5. The kitchen towels (plain and simple ones) turned out to be offered by a third party to be shipped separately to our home, but Walmart canceled this order days after I submitted my order. for some unknown reason. So I never received the ordered kitchen towels.
  6. Two different home deliveries on the same day were made by Walmart instead in spite of my curbside pickup preference.
  7. Walmart send me several reminders that I should come to their store for pickup. Well, I showed up at the store and the friendly staff member came out to the parking lot and presented me with the pickup package. This package contained only one item, a 99 cents plastic pill box weekly organizer.
In conclusion, next time I will think hard and long whether to make another online order with Walmart after this dismal experience! Apparently, Walmart does not have what it takes to make online shopping a convenient and satisfying experience!
