Comparing Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini Code Assist side-by-side in Visual Studio Code

Since Copilot told me yesterday I exhausted my limit, I assume I get now code assistance from the competitor though I do not know for sure.

I use Python.

My first impression is that Gemini Code Assist is

• Faster in understanding and supporting my personal coding style after less time.
• Better in generating __doc__ strings for functions following my style
• Inserting the __all__ at the top of the module was also excellent and fast
• There were other cases were it had a better grasp of what I tried to achieve than Copilot and made relevant code suggestions

Let's find out when I reach the limit of Germini Code Assist as a free rider! 😊
