What is wrong with the term African americans still used frequently in our times?

A lot! Why so many so called intellectuals still use this term is beyond comprehension! It does not make them look very good or smart!

If I am not mistaken, quite a few if not a majority of black Americans don't like this term. Some may consider it to be an insult. They are Americans first of all who have made many important contributions to the American history, society and culture.

All children of African slaves born in the US became essentially American citizens under the US Constitution (despite the obviously wrong Dred Scott v. Sandford decision by the US Supreme Court in 1857). At least individual states recognized the citizenship of former slaves before 1857. Slavery in the entire US officially and legally ended in 1865. Before that came the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. Or in other words, the US Constitution did not deny in any form any black American born in the US his or her citizenship.

Any black American (e.g. former slave) was free to move back to Africa. Few did!

So it is totally inaccurate to call black Americans African Americans. This term is clearly an expression of dim witted propaganda and ideology!
