For some time now it has become fashionable and almost dominant to call immigrants migrants. This is obviously very wrong!
It is an annoyance!
A migrant can be exclusively domestic and never crosses a border.
A migrant typically moves from place/country to place/country while an immigrant stays in one country.
What is the motivation behind this deliberate confusion? Ideology?
P.S. There are also emigrants. An emigrant becomes an immigrant when settling down in another country.
