I use it intensively. My preferred setting is the weekly overview!
However, Google Calendar does not automatically advance the view to the current week. I have to do it manually. Very annoying. I just almost entered a reminder event for tomorrow on the day of the past week because of this! There was not even a warning or hint about my attempt!
I am not aware that there is a setting for this. I just checked.
