France clamps down on Muslim extremists by halting appointment and banning of foreign Muslim clerics

Good news! The country of Laicism had enough!

"French Interior Minister Darmanin announces a ban on around 300 foreign imams, primarily from Algeria, Turkey, and Morocco, paid from abroad, entering France. The policy, part of President Macron's 2020 measures to combat radical Islamist extremism, aims to boost locally trained imams while restricting foreign influence and funding. Existing foreign imams must shift to being paid by French Muslim associations, with an exception for the 'imams of Ramadan' group. The creation of Forum de l'Islam de France (Forif) faces criticism for a lack of Muslim representation. Macron grapples with challenges securing agreement on a charter of principles for Islam in France and faces tensions in attempts to shut down radical mosques. Deportation efforts for foreign radical imams, like Hassan Iquioussen, highlight the challenges France faces in balancing free speech, secularism, and combating extremism."
