South Korea’s Dog Meat Association is fighting for the freedom to eat what you want, but parliament pass law to ban consumption of dog meat

Different strokes, for different folks comes to mind. Don't the French eat frog legs and so on?

Was it necessary for busy body legislators to ban it? Was this tradition not already disappearing by itself?

South Korea’s Dog Meat Association, opposing a new law that will phase out the farming, slaughter and sale of the protein by 2027, on penalty of up to three years in prison or a roughly $23,000 fine. For centuries, dog meat was exalted in Korean cuisine; locals believed consuming it improves one’s stamina and cools down the body. Dog-meat consumption is commonplace across Asia, though Western countries look at it askance."
