The next generation of robotic surgery is emerging: but is it better than a human?

We are getting there, i.e. robotic surgery to be as good as humans at least for routine, less complicated surgery! With AI robotic surgery should be boosted!

E.g. the Da Vinci Surgical System has been in use since about 2000.

Perhaps, one of the greatest benefits would be to provide more needed surgeries all over the world at lower cost and despite any human surgeon shortages.

"...In 2000, Darzi participated in the first robotic surgery procedure in the UK, a gallbladder removal performed at St Mary’s Hospital. “Now there are more than 100 of these systems actively being used across the country,” ..."

The next generation of robotic surgery is emerging: but is it better than a human? | Nature Medicine High financial costs and limited evidence restrict the adoption of robotic surgery, but new uses for robots and attempts to assess efficacy could widen access.
