Turkey's President Erdogan is trying to resurrect the Osman Empire following in the footsteps of Putin the Terrible. One may guess, at old age Erdogan feels his place in history is not yet secured.
This is at odds with NATO! In the past several years or so, there have been a number of incidents which questioned the continued membership of Turkey in NATO.
With a senile, demented and corrupt 46th U.S. President Erdogan feels emboldened!
Reminder: Syria and its long ongoing civil war is one of the global hot spots, a quagmire. Hopefully, it will not escalate. See also my recent blog post.
Unfortunately, the Syrian Democratic Forces are actively backed by the U.S. and its military.
"Turkey has conducted a series of airstrikes in northern Syria against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)—the United States’ sole security partner in the country—since October 5. These attacks are placing significant pressure on the SDF, which, in turn, puts at risk the US mission to defeat ISIS."
