Some of the women were forced to have sex with up to 40 men per day. At the end of the war, Japan made attempts to cover up by dressing abused sex slaves in nurse uniforms or they killed these sex slaves. Japanese medical staff participated in the sexual abuse as well.
Another reason why two nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan.
The Japanese Empire started to develop the brothel system in 1904. The map shows the extent of the brothel/comfort system by 1916.
