Researchers have found that intravenous administration of a nonpathogenic virus, oncolytic alphavirus M1 (OVM), suppresses the growth of glioblastoma, a lethal brain cancer, and also reverses the cancer’s suppression of the immune system. OVM triggers an immune response to cell death (ICD), restoration of the immune system, tumour microenvironment (TME) reprogramming and proliferation of immune cells that specifically target the tumour.
