However, the share of Europe and the US is over 55%, while China's share is only about 35% (see chart below).

"In 2024, China surpassed the United States as the world’s leading producer of cancer research for the first time. That year, China’s share of authorship on high-quality cancer studies published in journals tracked by Nature Index hit 2,615, a 19% increase on the previous year.
By comparison, the United States’ share was 2,482, just 5% more than in 2023. The United States remains the leading cancer-research collaborator globally but its partnerships with China declined in 2021."
