Democrats Suffered A Series Of Utter Election Defeats Under President Obama

Posted: 12/17/2016

The facts are staggering concerning the series of stunning defeats, the Democratic Party suffered under Obama’s presidency:
  1. Trump won 3,084 counties out of a total of 3,141 counties in the U.S. In other words, his opponent, Hillary for Prison 2016, won just 57 counties (or just 1.8%), most of them concentrated in or around big cities of California (Los Angeles, San Francisco), New York, Massachusetts, Illinois (Chicago) etc.
  2. Obama during his two terms managed to swing a solid majority of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives from 79 seats (election 2008) to a solid minority having 47 representatives less than the Republicans (election 2016). During the reelection of Obama, the Democrats were unable to win back the House! (see also table below)
  3. A U.S. president never gets to choose which House of Representatives he/she has to work with. Something this fool of Obama never learnt or willfully ignored!
  4. Similar things happened in the U.S. Senate. During Obama’s presidency a solid majority of the Democrats (16 senators) swung into a solid Republican majority (6 senators).
  5. Republicans now claim 33 out of 50 governorships in 2016 and have a lead of 13 governors over the Democrats. Had their been more than only 12 gubernatorial elections in 2016, the results could have been far worse for the Democrats. In 2008, the Democrats could claim 21 governorships and only 8 governors less than the Republicans (see also table below)
  6. I am too lazy to come up with the number of how many state houses and senates the Republicans won during Obama’s presidency, but the numbers are similarly staggering. The GOP now controls 68 out of 98 partisan state legislative chambers -- the highest number in the history of the party. Republicans currently hold the governorship and both houses of the legislature in 23 states, while Democrats have that level of control in only seven (source)

And Nancy Pelosi is still the Minority leader in the House of Representatives and was even re-elected after the 2016 defeat! She has been in this position since 2007 and she is probably one of the worst Democrat to lead to lead the Democrats  the House of Representatives in decades.

Finally, that other terrible Democrat in the U.S. Congress, the Senator from Nevada Harry Reid has retired. His successor Chuck Schumer may turn out not to be much better, but there is hope.

When will the Democrats finally wake up and learn lessons!
Democracy suffers tremendously when the opposition parties extensively fail!
