Renewable Fraud In The German Wind Energy Industry

Trigger

Today (11/1/2013), I read following article in my online home town newspaper titled “Dubiose Geschäfte/Betrug in der Windindustrie” (Dubious deals/Fraud in the wind energy industry). The article stresses that overly generous government subsidies for renewable energy, for which Germany world famous (or perhaps a laughing stock) gave opportunity for some scrupulous people to make a quick buck.

Government Subsidies Are Rarely Justifiable

What makes this case in Germany even more pernicious is that the general public or consumers are forced to pay higher electricity prices to finance these outlandish government subsidies.

No wonder, German prosecutors and tax authorities are now filing criminal indictments for embezzlement etc. The article mentions that prosecutors might be overwhelmed with these difficult cases and they are running up against statute of limitations.
