Recommendable! However, this is shoddy science tainted by ideology: "... They found consistent evidence that its slowdown in the 20th century is unprecedented in the past millennium [what about the previous millenia, you fool???] – it is likely linked to human-caused climate change. ..." (See press release below). When the Global Warming hoax and Climate Change religion taint scientific work!
At least this study confirmed that we still know very little about terra incognita (a.k.a. as our oceans and the deep sea). I blogged e.g. here about it. Apparently, besides multidecadal ocean oscillations (e.g. Atlantic multidecadal oscillation) we also have ocean circulations that last hundreds if not thousands of years and influence global climate. And we still know so little about it. However, some morons of scientists allege anthropogenic causes!
This is the entire paper abstract (notice no mention of caused by humans):
"The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC)—one of Earth’s major ocean circulation systems—redistributes heat on our planet and has a major impact on climate. Here, we compare a variety of published proxy records to reconstruct the evolution of the AMOC since about AD 400. A fairly consistent picture of the AMOC emerges: after a long and relatively stable period, there was an initial weakening starting in the nineteenth century, followed by a second, more rapid, decline in the mid-twentieth century, leading to the weakest state of the AMOC occurring in recent decades."
Excerpt from the paper:
"... There is evidence that the AMOC is slowing down in response to anthropogenic global warming2—as predicted by climate models—and that the AMOC is presently in its weakest state for more than 1,000 years ..."
Really? Predicted by unreliable climate models!
Excerpt from the science article:
"... Philip Duffy, the director of the Woodwell Climate Research Center in Massachusetts tells Inside Climate News that models of human-induced climate change have predicted the effects on the AMOC that the study found. “If this continues, the societal consequences will be pretty significant,” he says, citing cooling of the Atlantic near Greenland. ..."
Atlantic Circulation Weakest in More Than a Millennium: Study | The Scientist Magazine® An oceanic “conveyer belt” that pulls warm water from tropical regions up into the northern Atlantic and cold water back toward the south is now the weakest it’s been in more than 1,000 years, a new study finds.Unfortunately, the formerly Woods Hole Climate Research Center has been deeply involved in perpetrating the Global Warming hoax!
