You may wonder what British archaeologists were doing the past 100-200 years? Sitting on their hands? Were there so few archaeologists, were they so underfunded? 😄
This is an interesting conundrum: Had it not been for this new railway project many of these archaeological discoveries may have never been made or much later and much fewer. On the other hand, the discoveries may well delay the new railway until much later or it may have to be redirected etc.
