What a contrast in reporting! Science only mentions that the bones were found in Germany. The German news outfit that reported about the same research reported the were found near Munich, Bavaria. Since the German news outfit is from Frankfurt, Hesse (the Hessians and Bavarians have a love-hate relationship), the journalist did not mind  to take a swipe at the Bavarians by saying these were the first upright walking Bavarians.

According to this research, bipedalism was present already 11.6 million years ago in Europe.

Bipedalism is possibly not a distinctive feature of humans. Is it also possible that bipedalism was not exclusively introduced in Africa?
