Why was it not a human-to-animal transmission?

There is still a preoccupation by scientists to explain the Covid-19 global pandemic as caused by zoonotic transmission. 

From the abstract:

"Wildlife reservoirs of SARS-CoV-2 can lead to viral adaptation and spillback from wildlife to humans ... In North America, there is evidence of spillover of SARS-CoV-2 from humans to white-tailed deer ..., but no evidence of transmission from deer to humans ..."
