Major lessons of the coronavirus pandemic

 The lessons are as follows:

  1. The pandemic exposed a colossal failure of the political class and elites in Western countries. Latest by June 2020 they should have realized that the SARS-Cov-2 virus is not very dangerous and very deadly. But neither one of them corrected their initial assumptions and explained it to the general public!!! Latest from June 2020 onwards efforts should have focused on protecting the vulnerable like old people and others. Instead they both continued to ruin our economies and make our lives unnecessary miserable by mandating general  lockdowns of businesses, schools etc. and mask wearing, social distancing, etc.
  2. Medieval superstition reigned supreme over science and facts!
  3. Precaution and government paternalism was taken to the extreme!
  4. Instead this pandemic was politically exploited in the most shameful and shocking ways to win elections and to leave citizens in unnecessary fear
  5. The pandemic was also exploited by scientists and the medical profession by stoking fears for more research funding etc.
  6. It triggered a revolution: Homeschooling, virtual meetings & events, and teleworking etc. have seen an enormous surge. It may enormously transform education, entertainment, and the workplace for the foreseeable future. Physical attendance or presence may well be a concept of the past. E.g. universities with their bloated, inflated tuition will face more competition on a global scale and so on
  7. Some argue the age of pandemics is upon humanity. Nonsense! The pandemic has incontrovertibly demonstrated that we have the means to defeat almost any disease if we put our efforts behind it. The exponential scientific and technological progess of the last several decades have enabled humanity to do just that and much more
  8. The dizzying speed at which this coronavirus was researched from all angles and how fast hundreds of new vaccines were developed within months
