The religion of science

In the age, where traditional religions loose followers, where atheism is en vogue etc., the need of humans to believe in something endures!

Follow the science, we are reminded almost every day! If you don't divine the science, you are castigated as a skeptic, heretic, denier or worse!

Elected politicians claim they adhere to scientific advice in making their decisions! However, they usually select scientific advice according to their prejudices!

However, scientists are only human, all too human! They err, they pursue ideologies of their choosing etc. that then influences their work and results! Scientific knowledge is rarely ever settled! Just because someone is a scientist does not mean he or she is beyond any doubt like a high priest, but scientists are treated like an oracle! 

Unfortunately, science is often not much more than scientism or akin to pseudoscience! Beware of the pretense of knowledge (Friedrich August von Hayek Nobel prize speech)

Common sense and a healthy dose of skepticism are necessary when dealing with scientists and science!
