Trigger
One of the big science news of yesterday was “
A quote from the article: “The discovery of the new class of antibiotic, called teixobactin, was reported Wednesday in the journal Nature. It was uncovered by screening 10,000 bacterial strains from soil. ”
A Few Remarks
- It took apparently several years to find this new antibiotic by screening thousands of samples of dirt. Why do we still not have synthetic ways to generate new antibiotics?
- It is reported that it will take several years before this new antibiotic will be approved, because of human clinical trials etc. Hope, big government will allow these potentially promising antibiotics to be used on volunteers before approval
