Here is the original article by James Franson. The original article is way above my head. But it appears that the popular science article above does not capture the essence of the original very well.
Consequential
The speed of light is one of the most important constants of physics. Remember E = MC2!
Photons appear to be decelerated during their flight through space, because of some interaction, which supposedly slows them down below the current known speed limit.
The original article points out that photons were traveling at less speed than neutrinos. Which would be surprising indeed.
If this is confirmed that may have major implications/ramifications on science and beyond.
