Trump may decide to leave WHO next week, the consequences will be dramatic. Really!

Good news, if true! It is high time for the Western countries to form their own health organisation and to go from there!

Some of the concerns are clearly overblown!

The alarmism and hysteria about President Trump is heating up!

"One of Donald Trump’s first moves after he’s sworn in as the 47th U.S. president on 20 January, his transition team has reportedly said, will be to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO). Trump started the process to quit WHO in July 2020, during his first presidential term. He said the organization was too close to China and claimed, contrary to the evidence, that WHO had helped cover up initial spread of COVID-19. Because the withdrawal process takes a year, [46th President] was able to reverse the decision when he took office in January 2021. ...

The consequences could be dramatic. Beyond its membership dues of roughly $110 million annually, the U.S. is one of the biggest voluntary donors, contributing $1.1 billion in 2022 and 2023 combined. All told, the country provides about one-fifth of WHO’s budget. Other members might make up some of the difference, as they did when Trump slashed U.S. contributions during his first term. ...

A U.S. departure would also sever WHO’s ties to world-class U.S. agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which currently provide guidance to WHO on a range of topics—and receive crucial information in return. ..."
