New French President Macron Is Already A Loser

Meanwhile, the new government of president Macron has come out with more dubious measures:

1. The environment minister Hulot announced that cars with internal combustion engine would be phased out by 2040 and coal fired power plants by 2022  (see e.g. here). This is pure socialism and central planning!
2. More child vaccinations will be made mandatory beginning 2018 (see e.g. here). In the 21st century, there is little justification for such coercive government measures anymore

Just read France to ban all new oil and gas exploration in renewable energy drive. France continues its indefensible obstruction of developing fracking and shale gas in France under its new president Emmanuel Macron.

France apparently also wants to shut down nuclear plants and reduce the number of operating nuclear plants in their country in the coming years from currently about 58 such plants. The above article mentions a reduction of up to 20 plants. France has pledged to change the energy mix of 75% nuclear energy generation of electricity to 50%.

Prospects Of Fracking & Shale Gas In France

1. “Originally viewed as one of the most promising countries in Europe for shale gas development, in 2011 the French government imposed a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing for shale gas due to concerns about its potential impact on the environment. Several exploration licenses have since been revoked. On 14 September 2012, President Francois Hollande announced a continued ban on hydraulic fracturing in France and called for the revocation of seven outstanding permit applications for hydraulic fracturing operations.”
2. “According to a United States Energy Information Administration study, carried out without exploratory drilling, France has technically recoverable reserves of 3.8 trillion cubic metres (137 trillion cubic feet). In the EIA’s survey of 14 European countries, France was second only to Poland in its level of shale gas deposits, and significantly larger than the closest reserve of 1.4 trillion cubic metres (51 trillion cubic feet) in Romania.”
3. “... France relies completely on imports [of natural gas] from countries such as Russia – which is responsible for 14% of imports – Nigeria, Egypt and Qatar. Its import dependency ratio for gas stood at 92.1% in 2010”

Macron Is Irresponsible And Elitist

The world needs not less energy, but lot’s more affordable energy to be developed and provided. 1-2 billion people on our planet still have no consistent or regular access to clean water or electricity.

There is nothing more environmentally friendly than to bring these 1-2 billion humans out of poverty! Monsieur, le president Macron! Cheap and plenty of energy is certainly the way to go!

A Last Word On CO2

Global Warming zealots and hysterics listen up!

If increasing carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is indeed truly a problem for world climate, then this is for our capable engineers to solve easily.

We know already of several technologies that could remove CO2 from the atmosphere and convert it into valuable chemicals.

Or plant some more plants and trees!
