Paris burns again!

Amended on 7/5/2023: Today, I was reminded that there were also several very brutal and deadly attacks by French Muslims e.g. the Charlie Hebdo shooting of 2015 where 12 were murdered.

Caveat: I don't claim to be familiar with what is going on in France or with the incident that triggered the riots!

Every so often violent unrest or riots break out in the capital of France! Remember May 1968! Not least modern France rose out of a violent revolution in 1789.

There is absolutely no excuse or justification for this kind or violent and destructive rioting going on in France. The police officer in question is suspended or arrested and serious charges against him are being prepared.

I have watched only once or twice one of the two videos showing the shooting incident. To me it almost appears as if the police officer reacted (pulled the trigger)  almost in some kind of knee jerk reflex when the young driver (age 17) suddenly pushed the gas pedal.

Trying to escape in this way by this young driver was also one of the stupidest things to do in this situation! What would have happened if the police officer had not fired the shot? Possibly, a police chase across the city endangering innocent bystanders/pedestrians etc.

Why the police officer had his hand gun drawn and pointing up close at the young  driver is one of the questions surrounding this incident. So far I have not seen any journalistic or other report providing insights into this question, but I have also not actively searched for such reports.

What are actually the police procedures in Paris for a police officer to draw his/her gun in what situations? The media reports I have seen so far did not ask or provide information on this question. Lazy journalists!!!

What was actually the offense, why these police officers questioned the persons inside the car?

Least, but not last: The repeated hyper racial/colonial spin on this tragic incident is terribly annoying and irresponsible!
