US seized a directed-energy weapon from a foreign adversary

How real is this? Why so secretive?

"U.S. intelligence has seized a directed energy weapon from an adversarial power and is studying the device, investigative journalist Catherine Herridge told “Katie Pavlich Tonight” on Tuesday.
Directed energy attacks have been linked with “Havana Syndrome” disorders that have plagued some federal employees. “My contacts don’t like to name names, but they all say the same thing, that this device really has the fingerprints all over it of a known foreign adversary,” Herridge says."

President Trump calls reports of depleting munitions 'treasonous,' insists stockpiles are solid and are being replenished

Indeed, many of these news media reports about the supposed low stocks of ordnance/missiles in recent weeks/months were sensationalism or junk at worst!

Trump calls reports of depleting munitions 'treasonous,' insists stockpiles are solid | Just The News "He said the U.S. is producing munitions "levels never seen before," and these are currently being used for our nation's own stockpiles rather than being exported to America's allies."

Chinese military researchers tap US AI models to train defense systems

Bad news! Why should AI not be dual use?

Maybe US AI models should train Chinese defense systems how to malfunction in case of a military conflict? 😊

What about the US spying on China how they use US AI models?

"Chinese military researchers have used outputs from leading U.S. artificial intelligence models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic to train domestic AI systems to advance China’s defense capabilities, according to a Reuters review of more than 80 Chinese academic papers and patents. ...

One paper published last year by researchers in PLA Unit 96941, a military intelligence and cyber-warfare unit in Beijing, described using OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 to process sensitive military source code. ..."

"Summary
  • Chinese military researchers distil US models, documents show
  • Distilling done to create smaller and more secure versions of a model
  • Distillation has become a flashpoint in US-China ties as AI competition intensifies
  • Distillation cannot replace massive compute needed to develop frontier AI from scratch
Chinese military researchers have used outputs from leading U.S. artificial intelligence models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic to train domestic AI systems to advance China's defence capabilities, according to a Reuters review of more than 80 Chinese academic papers and patents. ..."

"Executive Summary:

  • Distillation has become essential to the rise of Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) models. Chinese academic and industry papers published in the period 2024–2026 detail how distillation takes place—including adversarial distillation—and provides insight into the kinds of entities involved in the work of using leading models to build capabilities that rival the world’s best models.
  • The prize is frontier reasoning: the step-by-step “chain of thought” that is the most expensive capability to build and the one on which U.S. laboratories lead most clearly. Chinese research literature documents a deliberate, premeditated effort to distill that capability.
  • Some published Chinese research also focuses on engineering distillation techniques to evade detection. Much of this work is conducted by researchers affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army, the defense industry, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
  • Distilled models are either already being used, or are proposed to be used, for public security applications such as surveillance and monitoring systems, and for military and cyber operations.

Chinese submarine launched ballistic missile test is said to undermine nuclear weapons-free zone in South Pacific

Concerning stuff! More sable rattling by the Communist Party of China? Was this necessary?

"China’s test this week of a submarine-launched ballistic missile follows a growing trend of nuclear powers hollowing out the integrity of nuclear weapons-free zones such as the South Pacific, analysts say.

The People’s Liberation Army Navy launched a ballistic missile from a submarine off its coast on Monday, which subsequently flew southeast over the Pacific for about 7,000 kilometers (4,350 miles), according to a map released by the Taiwan National Security Council, before splashing down near the island nations of Nauru and Tuvalu. ..."

"China’s rare launch of a ballistic missile from a nuclear-powered submarine into the deep Pacific sent a strategic signal to the United States and regional neighbours, particularly Japan, amid concerns about Beijing’s military expansion. ..."

America 'one step ahead' of China in hypersonic race with 'unstoppable' 3,800mph Blackbeard rocket

Recommendable!

Can Russia's New Nuclear-Powered cruise Missile Be A Game Changer?

Recommendable! It is not even certain this cruise missile is actually nuclear powered. How many such missile would Russia be able to produce?
The threat from this cruise missile is probably exaggerated no matter whether it circles all the way around the globe and attacks from an heretofore unexpected direction. A cruise missile flies slow!

Microwave weapon downs 49 drones with a single blast

Good news!

Downing drones with explosives this way could cause collateral damage.

"In a demonstration not so much of marksmanship but more of the advantages of microwaves, an Epirus Leonidas directed energy, high-power microwave (HPM) anti-drone weapon has knocked 49 Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAV) out of the air with one shot. ...

a family of weapons based on using long-pulse microwave beams to burn out the electronics of small drones. ...

using Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductors to generate microwaves instead of fragile, power-hungry magnetron vacuum tubes. ...

On August 26, 2025, in front of an invitation-only audience at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, Leonidas took part in a live fire exercise in which it disabled 61 drones with 100% success. This included knocking out two groups of three drones approaching without warning from opposite directions, targeting one of two drones selected by an audience member before disabling the second one, and intercepting and dropping a single drone into a predetermined safe zone.

Then came the party piece, it took on over four dozen drones at once, dropping them out of the sky simultaneously with a single pulse. ..."

2 Russian Soldiers in 1 Shot – Ukraine’s ‘Ghost’ Sniper Unit Scores Longest Kill at 4,000m with the help of AI and a drone

What a horrific record!

"The single shot hit and killed two Russian soldiers in the Pokrovsk sector, a feat made possible by the range of Ukraine’s domestically produced rifle and the proficiency of its snipers – with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and drone guidance. ...

The “Alligator” is a Ukrainian-made rifle produced by Kharkiv-based XADO-Holding. It is magazine-fed, with a 14.5 mm caliber, a 1,200 mm barrel, and a muzzle velocity of 980–1,000 meters per second (3,215–3,281 feet per second).

The rifle weighs 25 kilograms (55 pounds), which is considered normal for its caliber. ...

The outlet added that 4 kilometers (about 4,374 yards) is by no means the limit for this rifle. A bullet fired from it can travel up to 7 kilometers (about 7,655 yards). However, accuracy is the main limiting factor: At a distance of 1.5 kilometers (about 1,640 yards), the deviation can already form a circle roughly one meter in diameter. Therefore, at a distance of 4 kilometers, the sniper most likely had to fire a series of shots to achieve the successful hit. ..."

Beware 'drone-tastic' thinking: UK armed forces chief says 'traditional' capabilities still matter

A prescient and timely warning of drone warfare exuberance!

And what about biological and chemical warfare. In the past, there was lots of restraint using BC weapons (even terrorists only rarely have used them), but will this continue?

"Drones alone will not be enough to secure victory in future conflicts, according to the outgoing head of the UK armed forces, but the aircraft offer an opportunity to “adjust the way that we’ve traditionally fought” today.

Speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank on Thursday, Adm. Tony Radakin, UK Chief of the Defence Staff, said that he worries of “drone-tastic” thinking and urges “caution” from those who believe “every future fight is going to be just drones.” ..."
