How much have the Houthis been degraded by the airstrikes from Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government?

Good question! Time and more airstrikes will tell!

Do you have to have troops on the ground to defeat the terrorists?

Next time, perhaps the buildup of terrorist groups like the Houthis need to be prevented early on!

"Saudi or Yemeni government-aligned forces conducted airstrikes on Sanaa City on October 3, likely to degrade Houthi capabilities central to the group's offensive campaigns.
Yemeni government-aligned forces also struck Houthi frontline positions, reinforcements, and logistics throughout southwestern Yemen. Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesperson Majed al Nuzaili claimed that strikes on Houthi reinforcements and support convoys have caused a state of "deprivation" that is weakening Houthi forces' ability to fight in Taiz Governorate. ..."

The Yemeni Houthis are about 350,000 strong!

I bet you did not know that!

Why this fact so rarely mentioned in Western news media is strange to say the least!

Who allowed this terrorist group to become so strong?

How much money and support is Iran giving the to Houthis?

"The group's manpower can be broken down into three main categories:
Core Militants and Veteran Troops: The group maintains a core faction of 20,000 to 40,000 highly trained, war-hardened militants. This core is heavily augmented by formal army units and commanders who remained in northern Yemen following the country's civil fragmentation, giving the Houthis access to professional military expertise.
Active Standing Army: According to official administrative records in Sana'a and independent intelligence reports from the Middle East Institute, the Houthis command an active-duty and affiliated force of over 200,000 soldiers divided across seven military regions.
Massive Recent Mobilization: The Houthis capitalized heavily on public sentiments regarding the Gaza conflict and reactions to Western airstrikes in the Red Sea. This allowed them to conduct a massive recruitment drive, ballooning their total roster to 350,000 personnel.

The Saudi-led coalition struck several Houthi targets across Yemen

How fast will the war with Iran escalate and expand? Is a World War III in the making? Better hope and pray it does not happen!

"The Saudi-led coalition struck several Houthi targets across Yemen on July 24 and 25 in order to degrade the Houthis' capabilities to threaten Saudi-linked shipping in the Red Sea and strike Saudi critical infrastructure. The Houthis and Houthi-affiliated media claimed that Saudi-led forces struck Hudaydah Port, a telecommunications building in Hudaydah City, and an unspecified target on Karaman Island near Salif Port, northwestern Yemen, on July 24.
Anti-Houthi Yemeni media claimed that the strikes targeted Houthi barracks near Hudaydah Port. Geolocated imagery showed a fire burning at Hudaydah Port on July 24 after the alleged Saudi strikes.[iv] A spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition denied that the coalition conducted any strikes targeting the port.
Saudi forces later struck likely Houthi drone and missile launch sites in Jawf and Marib provinces on July 25 in response to Houthi attacks on Saudi critical infrastructure in Yanbu and Jizan on July 24."

When Gulf Allies Saudi Arabia and UAE Fall Out over Yemen

Bad news! Recommendable! How far will the dispute go?

"The new year opened with a question mark over Gulf stability as tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE erupted into an open dispute over Yemen with the potential to reshape the regional order. Even if the two Gulf powers reconcile, the damage from their public feud will undermine trust and affect countries that rely on them ...

Weeks of simmering tensions came to a head on December 30 when Saudi Arabia bombed what it described as an arms shipment from the Emirates bound for separatists in Yemen. ...

A complex history of rivalries and rapprochements underpins the UAE-Saudi relationship. ..."

Two headlines about Yemen today

How elusive is peace in the Middle East?

"Riyadh appears increasingly frustrated with changes in Yemen. Saudi Arabia led an intervention there against the Houthis in 2015. However, over the last several years, it has preferred a status quo in Yemen as it has patched things up with Iran. It is not interested in more instability.

The challenge for Riyadh now is that the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which controls areas in Aden and southern Yemen, has been making gains on the ground. The STC is seen as being backed by the UAE. Although the UAE and Saudi Arabia share many interests in the region, they do not always agree on Yemen. ..."

Israeli presence in Somaliland will be considered a 'military target,' Houthi leader warns "The Houthis’ leader also accused Israel of aiming for the “further disintegration and fragmentation of other countries,” and demanded that all of Yemen act against Israel."

U.N. Ineffectiveness in Yemen Shows Cyprus Was Right to Reject 2004 Annan Plan by Michael Rubin

Recommendable!

"European diplomats and many United Nations officials, ... are optimistic that they can make progress on the fifty-one-year dispute, especially after residents of the self-styled Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ousted hardliner Ersin Tatar in favor of the more moderate Tufan Erhürman, a mild-mannered lawyer and former negotiator. ...

Still, Erhürman’s election showed the unease even among Cypriot Muslims about Erdoğan’s religious agenda, which is foreign to the tolerant, laid-back practices that Turkish Cypriots traditionally favor. ...

Unfortunately, too many U.N. officials, Western diplomats, and Turks blame Greek Cypriots for the failure of the U.N.’s 2004 Annan Plan to make Cyprus a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation. In the subsequent referendum, Turkish Cypriots accepted the plan by a two-thirds majority, while three-quarters of Greek Cypriots rejected the plan.

In the decades since, Turkish diplomats and many frustrated U.N. and European officials have heaped blame upon Greek Cypriots for missing the opportunity for peace. Turks responded by increasing their unilateralism.  ...

Greek Cypriots were correct to reject the Annan Plan for two reasons:
First, it laundered Turkish aggression.  ... the idea that it would have brought peace to the island is nonsense.

It would have allowed both the Turkish Army and Turkish settlers to continue their occupation permanently. Turkey and its proxy state would collect concessions within days, while Greek Cypriot rights would only kick in years later. Should Turkey or Turkish Cypriots violate the Annan Plan, there would be no recourse or consequence. Put another way, the Annan Plan was all smoke and mirrors, but no substance. ...

The United Nations pulled the same stunt nearly a quarter-century later in Yemen. The United Nations does not recognize the Houthi government of Yemen and views its 2014 seizure of Yemen’s capital Sana’a as illegitimate. Still, the United Nations sends mixed message by maintaining its offices in the occupied capital even though it recognized an alternate government based in Aden. As it appeared an Emirati-led force might attack the main Houthi port at Hudaydah, many within the U.N. system pursued the need for an agreement to bring calm to Yemen, if not peace. ...

The Stockholm Agreement did neither. The Houthis retained control over customs and port operations, albeit with a uniform change and the facade of being apolitical port workers. Inspections became optional; the agreement only mandated boarding for those ships that officially declared themselves to inspectors. The Houthis thrived and strengthened. Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yamani resigned in disgust at the U.N.’s willingness to substitute a virtue signaling and a signing ceremony for meaningful peace and security. History has proven al-Yamani correct. Tens of thousands of Yemenis have died since the Stockholm Agreement as a result of its perpetuation of Houthi rule. ..."

In Yemen as in Gaza, bombs and starvation are stealing the lives of our children | The Guardian. Really!

What a junk opinion piece published by the leftist The Guardian! This is pretty low/lousy even for The Guardian, almost disgusting!

The article talks about Saudi Arabia, but the headline implicates Israel! Weird!

It appears, the opinion piece is totally silent on the Houthis terrorists firing missiles on Israel. Or why the Saudi Arabia military intervened in Yemen, because of the Houthis takeover.

Caveat: I did not have the time to read the whole article! Maybe a waste of time anyway!

"“Mom, why are they bombing us?” my oldest daughter asked me in 2019, as the Saudi coalition committed crimes with US weapons. Why? This is the eternal question.

When the western-backed, Saudi-led military campaign began in March 2015, I started compiling a mental list of all the ways the war was scorching the concept of childhood in Yemen. How war takes parents away from their children, and our children away from us. How war, not time alone, ages our children. ..."

Houthi PM, defense officials likely killed in IDF strike on Sanaa, Yemen earlier this week

Wow! How involved were these government officials with terrorism?

"The IAF on Thursday attacked a group of top Houthi military officials in Sanaa who were watching the Houthi leader give a nationally televised speech.

Public broadcaster KAN, citing Yemeni media, reported that Houthi Prime Minister Ghalib al-Rahawi was killed in the attack. Yemen's Al-Jumhuriya channel reported that al-Rahwi was in an apartment alongside several colleagues when he was killed.

It is likely that the Houthis' Defense Minister, Mohammad Nasser al-Athifi, and Chief of Staff, Mohammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, were killed in the attack. ..."

Yemen intercepts Iranian chemical weapons bound for Houthis

Good news, if confirmed!
