How Jack Maple Revolutionized Policing in New York

Very recommendable!

NYC Transit PD (1970–1992)

That the PBS biography video does not mention then mayor of NYC Rudy Giuliani is strange at best! Was this politically motivated?

I also bet that then NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton was more involved then this video shows.

For some odd reason this video also does not mention the famous and successful Broken windows policing strategy in the 1990s introduced by mayor Rudi Giuliani and Police Commissioner William Bratton.

200 people jumped, others fell from the twin World Trade Center towers on 9/11

I had almost forgotten about these horrible images!

200 people jumped from the Twin Towers on 9/11. This is what it felt like to watch from the street below. | Blaze Media (behind paywall)

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, one of the worst terrorist attacks of all times

Will humans ever become much more non violent and live mostly peaceful  together? To my last breath I will pray for it and not give up my hope!

How to prevent suicidal, fanatic mass murderers from committing such evil? How do we deal with such monsters? There is no excuse for it!

My wife and I lived across the Hudson River opposite of the World Trade Center in Jersey City, NJ when it happened.

Five years ago, I wrote here about my memories of this horrible event.

Windows on the World restaurant changed New York City before 9/11

This is a nice contribution by the WSJ to the 25th anniversary of 9/11!

I had forgotten about this restaurant at the top of the WTC!

"Not only was it a culinary juggernaut, but the sky-high restaurant—soaring more than 100 stories above the city in the North Tower of the World Trade Center—shifted the city’s culture. Famed graphic designer Milton Glaser designed the venue to be “a journey to the promised land, an adventure in imagination, the pursuit of the unexpected.” ..."

Bank of America female VP (age 32) Was Killed by a woman in Times Square on First Day Back from Maternity Leave

Bad news!

Is this a harbinger of the policies of NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani or just a freak, random killing?

"... Tak Kam, 68, was also stabbed but is expected to recover, and police later used lethal force on Cisneros when she charged at them with two knives in her hands ..."

New York City Mayor Mamdani is cutting red tape for small businesses

Not all news coming out of NYC since Mayor Mamdani are bad!

"... with more than 50 regulatory reforms aimed at eliminating unnecessary permits, fees, and delays. Reforms include eliminating a redundant frozen dessert permit, streamlining outdoor dining approvals and barbershop licensing, expediting restaurant inspections, and temporarily waiving certain equipment registration fees."

"... But this week, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani (yes, the democratic socialist) announced more than 50 reforms that would eliminate unnecessary regulations and high permitting and licensing fees for small businesses.

The reforms, unveiled on Monday, cover a variety of small business issues, from outdoor dining rules to pawnbroker licenses. During a speech in the Bronx, Mamdani announced that the city would work with the state to eliminate the frozen dessert permit, which requires restaurants that already have food permits to 'seek out a superfluous second permit for what they're already doing.'

He also said the current state of regulatory affairs for barbershops is 'anti-fade,' as shop owners must obtain three different permits to operate their business. ... Among dozens of other reforms, the Mamdani administration will also reduce street fair vendor permit fees, speed up restaurant inspections, and cut equipment registration fees from $110 to $0 for 12 months…

In addition to these proposed regulatory changes, Mamdani signed an executive order on Monday creating a task force of city agencies that will continue to identify opportunities for reform.”"

Secret X bot army boosting NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani traced to New York's City Hall

Socialist Mamdani needs all the help he can get! 😊

Or is this just a Jewish conspiracy theory published in the Jerusalem Post?

Who is behind it? Putin the Terrible? Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, Iran?

When was the last time NYC had a great mayor? Perhaps Rudy Giuliani (1994-2001)?

Caution satire!

"Dozens of suspected bot accounts on X/Twitter are amplifying content from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his circle, and reportedly can be traced to New York City Hall IP infrastructure, the World Zionist Organization told The Jerusalem Post exclusively. ...

The Post independently consulted the cyber experts involved, who said they are “100% sure” the IP addresses could be traced to city hall, although it did not provide evidence establishing who controlled the accounts or whether city officials directed their activity. ..."

NYC Mayor Mamdani considers Netanyahu arrest ahead of UN General Assembly visit. Really!

This mayor of New York City is more crazy than expected! When was the last time NYC had a great mayor after Rudi Giuliani?

How far will Mamdani go to ruin NYC?

"New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is deliberating an order to arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits New York City for the UN General Assembly in September, The New York Times reported on Saturday.

“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in the Hague,” Mamdani told NYT podcast host Lulu Garcia-Navarro on The Interview.

“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court [ICC],” Mamdani added. “And what you will find is that it is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.” ..."

A Top Mamdani NYC Official Tried to Meet with Islamic Republic’s ambassador to the U.N.

The NYC mayor has ambitions beyond the city limits! 😊 What was Zamdani thinking?

It was not reported whether the female top official would have worn a Burka or head scarf at the meeting.

"The top official in the Zohran Mamdani administration’s Office for International Affairs made plans to meet with Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations.

Commissioner Ana María Archila was scheduled to meet with Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, at 2 United Nations Plaza, alongside two other senior officials in the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs on July 7 at 11 a.m ...

The meeting between Archila and Iravani was called off after the State Department—which was not informed ahead of time—met with the Mamdani administration to clarify acceptable conduct, according to the State Department official."

NYC Mayor Mamdani Erases/omits Little Italy, Irish, and Jewish from the map of ethnic enclaves

When was the last time NYC had a great mayor? Since Rudy Giuliani (mayor from 1994-2001)? Was Rudy not an Italian-American?

"Not having Little Italy on a map of ethnic enclaves in New York is like leaving the Golden Gate Bridge off a list of bridges in San Francisco. And yet that is precisely what the Ugandan-born socialist mayor of New York has done. ..."

Quantifying racial inequality in transit access across New York City | PNAS Nexus. Really!

What a ridiculous if not a junk study! Why did PNAS publish this ideology and propaganda?

The New York city subway, opened in 1904, is one of the oldest subway systems in the US.

What about other public transportation in NYC like busses?

Look at the rather small percentage differences in the abstract! This study is a bad joke!

Caveat: I did not read the study!

From the abstract:
"Urban transit networks are crucial for sustainable cities, yet their uneven distribution often results in unequal access to urban resources.
Prior studies primarily focused on accessibility within transit networks while overlooking its implications for residents’ behaviors and the historical and political roots of inequality [???].
Using door-to-door transit information and over 66 million mobility records, we examine racial disparities in New York City’s transit accessibility and their impact on mobility behaviors. We find that ethnic minorities have 4.9% lower neighborhood accessibility, 15.7% less job accessibility, and 14.9% poorer access to essential facilities compared to the white population.
These disparities exacerbate residential segregation [???] by 26.9% and confine minorities to limited mobility, higher unemployment risks, and longer travel to essential services.
Importantly, inequalities persist even after accounting for socioeconomic covariates, housing values, and residential sorting, pointing to the enduring influence of wealth, political power, and discriminatory planning legacies. Simulations indicate that enhancing transit infrastructure in minority block groups could reduce these gaps by up to 49.8%. Our findings highlight the critical need to integrate equity, affordability, and inclusiveness into the design of future sustainable transit systems."

Resurfaced Posts Show New York mayor's Wife Celebrating Terrorists like on October 7

What a transition from Mayor Rudi Giuliani to Mayor Zohran Mamdani!

Let's give his wife (age 28 now, from Syria) the benefit of doubt that her young age back then was the reason for poor judgment!

"New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s wife, Rama Duwaji, reportedly glorified terrorism in a series of social media posts when she was in her late teens and early 20s. ...

These revelations come shortly after reports that Duwaji produced art featured in an article by an anti-Israel activist. The author previously had said the Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel was “spectacular,” and had called Jews “vampires,” among other derogatory names. ..."

NYC Mayor Eric Adams Declares Himself a Maccabee at Chanukah Farewell

Good news! Bravo!

"In a stirring and heartfelt farewell to New York’s Jewish community, Mayor Eric Adams made a powerful statement during what is widely seen as his final Chanukah celebration in office: “I am a Maccabee.”

Breaking from formal protocol, Adams stepped out from behind security barriers to speak directly from the crowd, blurring the lines between leader and community. “I wanted to come down among you,” he told attendees. “All of these ropes keep us away from each other.” ...

His appearance at the event, ... was deeply personal and unapologetically passionate. Adams used the moment not to reflect on politics, but to affirm his solidarity with Jews facing a rise in global antisemitism. ...

With a symbolic nod to Jewish tradition, Adams called on his listeners to draw strength from the Maccabees, the Jewish heroes who defied oppression and rededicated the Holy Temple. “I am a Maccabee,” he declared. “You are Maccabees. And we will stand together, now and always.” ..."
