Tennessee Governor Bill Lee proposes renaming Nashville international airport after Dolly Parton

Sounds like a good idea to me! A fitting tribute indeed!

The airport will be renamed from Barry Field Airport (BNA) to Dolly Parton airport. "Berry Field: The airport was named after Colonel Harry S. Berry.
Who was Col. Berry: He was a World War I and II U.S. Army veteran and directed the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in Tennessee." Google Search)

"Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has proposed the renaming of Nashville International Airport in honor of Dolly Parton, the country music legend who died on Tuesday at age 80.

Lee said in a statement, “It is fitting that Nashville International Airport would bear the name of our state’s favorite daughter and greet travelers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith, and kindness.”  ..."

"... The governor and first lady are people of strong faith. They are active in numerous faith-based ministries, which have taken them all over the world to serve people in need, including to Africa, Haiti, Central America, and the Middle East. ..."

Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You (Live)

Enjoy! R.I.P.

"Dolly Parton both wrote and originally recorded "I Will Always Love You" in 1973. She composed the song as a heartfelt farewell to her longtime musical partner and mentor, Porter Wagoner, when she decided to pursue a solo career." (YouTube AI)

Dolly Parton a business manager, a wealthy lady and a great philanthropist

Maybe her best lifetime contributions!

I have to admit I was not aware of this side of her long career!

P.S. I just learnt that Dolly Parton died about within one year of her husband Carl Dean (died at age 83? Born 1942?) with whom she was married for over 60 years.

"Dolly Gave Away More Than She Kept

Dolly Parton, who died Tuesday at 80, built a $450 million fortune from a childhood in a one-room Tennessee cabin. By some estimates, she gave away even more, roughly $500 million.

Her defining deal was one she turned down. In 1974, Elvis Presley’s manager demanded half the publishing rights to I Will Always Love You. “Something in my heart says, don’t do that,” she later recalled. Whitney Houston’s 1992 cover of that song earned Parton an estimated $20 million.

She kept her name on the rest of her business, too: half of Dollywood, her Tennessee theme park empire, and a 3,000-song catalog valued at $120 million.

Her philanthropy was lifelong, and much of the giving went through her Dollywood Foundation, established in 1988. Its Imagination Library, a tribute to her father, who never learned to read, has mailed more than 330 million free books to children."

Dolly Parton's other legacy

R.I.P. What else will she be remembered for? She was a cosmetic surgery doll in her later life! Was she obsessed with her beauty and her figure? I don't mean to be nasty or disrespectful.

How many women (or men) were influenced by her cosmetic surgery?

"Yes, Dolly Parton has openly confirmed that she has breast implants and has undergone multiple breast augmentations and lifts throughout her career.

Details on Her Surgery
Open admission: Parton has never hidden her cosmetic procedures and often jokes about them with her signature humor.
Timeline: She has stated that she got her first breast augmentation later in her early career, with further adjustments and lifts done as her body changed over the decades.
No injections: While she confirmed implants and lifts, she has explicitly denied ever having dangerous silicone or foreign substance injections. ...

Her other documented cosmetic procedures (like facelifts or Botox) ..." (Google Search)

Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You - 1974

Until now I had no Idea that Dolly Parton sang this song too! However, I much prefer the Whitney Houston version of it!
