DUNE scientists observe first accelerator produced neutrinos with prototype detector at Fermilab

Good news!

I might be mistaken, but this is only the second collider in the world to achieve this besides CERN LHC.

"... DUNE [Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment], currently under construction, will be the most comprehensive neutrino experiment in the world. It will bring scientists closer to solving some of the biggest physics mysteries in the universe, including searching for the origin of matter and learning more about supernovae and black hole formation. ...
The DUNE collaboration is made up of more than 1,400 scientists and engineers from over 200 research institutions. ..."

DUNE scientists observe first neutrinos with prototype detector at Fermilab | symmetry magazine "The prototype of a novel particle detection system for the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment successfully recorded its first accelerator neutrinos."

Display of a candidate neutrino interaction recorded by the 2×2 detector highlighting the four internal detector modules and native 3D imaging capability. The bottom image additionally shows the detectors surrounding the 2×2 for further tracking of incoming and exiting particles. The DUNE Near Detector will similarly consist of a modular liquid argon detector along with a muon tracker.

The next subatomic particle supercollider

Recommendable! Good overview of current plans! Supercolliders are probably the most gigantic and most expensive research facilities on earth!
I found it surprising that the article did not mention any new such efforts in China, Russia, Brazil, or India.

Fermilab: Muon g-2 experiment finds strong evidence for new physics

Recommendable! Exciting stuff! Will Albert Zweistein or Isaac Verynewton please step forward! :-)

First results from Fermilab’s Muon g-2 experiment strengthen evidence of new physics The new measurement from the Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab strongly agrees with the value found at Brookhaven and diverges from theory with the most precise measurement to date.

The Diversity & Inclusion Propaganda Fermilab

Posted: 8/27/2019

President Trump needs to stop this propaganda coming out of leading federal research facilities!  In this case it is Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FermiLab). This propaganda is spread by none other than “Copyright 2019 Symmetry Magazine A joint Fermilab/SLAC publication/U.S. Department of Energy | Office of Science”. There still is a lot of swamp to drain in Washington DC!

I have previously blogged about the “The LGBTQ Livermore National Laboratory”.

Now, the world famous Fermilab features “Channeling Shuri as a physicist at Wakandacon
08/27/19 By Bailey Bedford/Fermilab scientist Jessica Esquivel donned a superhero costume to celebrate diversity in STEM, nerdiness and science at Wakandacon in Chicago.”

I don’t think I have to go any deeper into this article, you get the idea! This is again diversity & inclusion propaganda disseminated by top federal research institutions! Appalling! Propaganda trumps science!

Wakandacon hardly qualifies as a science convention! Wakandacon’s “Pillars” reads “In creating Wakandacon we imagined a place free and unshackled from the ravages of racism; of exploitation; of discrimination; of emotional, physical, and sexual violence.”.
I don’t think that any federal employee needs to be featured attending such a conference. This is private, personal business of this employee!
