More signs of a serious decline of the UK! So much foolishness is beyond belief!

Will the new PM Burnham fix this quickly?

Bill Gates wants to see a robot tax and 'Human Reserved' jobs to mitigate harms from AI

Proves again billionaires are not smarter than the rest of us!

What is the old man (age 70) worried about?

Why would you tax robots? In medieval times windows were taxed around 1700 AD/CE in England! Why would you stymie progress with taxes?

Why is Bill Gates calling for Big Government to intervene?

To replace worker payroll taxes with a robot tax is a dumb idea too!

"... In terms of equity [???], AI will either be the greatest equalizer ever invented, or the worst source of injustice. ..." What a primitive and wrong dichotomy!

"... This time really is different. ..." Really!

"... The world needs a plan. ..." Central planning by big government?

Caveat I did not read the very lengthy post by Bill Gates!

Nearly 7 million U.S. homes are now worth at least $1 million

Good news! Impressive! However, how much is due to price inflation?

"Nearly 7 million U.S. homes are now worth at least $1 million, up from about 1.5 million in 2005, according to the National Association of Realtors. Those properties make up 8% of the market, and in Hawaii, roughly 40% of homes have crossed that threshold.

Meanwhile, Americans need to earn about $110,000 a year to afford even a typical home, a Redfin report found. The median household income sits at roughly $88,000, leaving a gap of more than $22,000 between what families earn and what it takes to buy.

The affordability squeeze has eased slightly, with the gap shrinking from $26,000 a year ago and $29,000 two years ago as incomes rise faster than housing costs. Redfin defines “affordable” as a buyer’s mortgage not consuming more than 30% of their income."

Something seems to be odd with this chart by Redfin! Why that steep increase after 2021? Why not more historical data since it appears the curve was fairly flat before 2021?

The moral paradox of extreme wealth: Why people oppose it yet are reluctant to take steps to reduce it. Really!

Some dim witted, naive psychology college professor wrote this piece! Most likely, she has no clue about a free market economy!

Her lifetime citation count on Google Scholar is 3466! This is very low!

This piece was published by

What a joke!

Caveat: I did not read her piece!

"... Given the prevalence of such stark inequality, it would be easy to assume that most people accept it as fair – but they don’t. As a psychologist who studies how people navigate moral problems, I suspect that one major challenge to effectively reining in extreme wealth is that doing so forces people to navigate between opposing moral demands. ...

Some argue that people chronically underestimate the scale of inequality – in the 2014 study, Americans underestimated the actual pay ratio at the time as being only 30-to-1.
Others argue that the primary driver of the disconnect is people’s unwillingness to abandon their beliefs in merit – that wealth is the product of hard work, talent and risk. ..."

California Democratic Party endorses “billionaire tax” ballot proposition for mid-term election

How stupid is the Dimocratic Party before the mid-term elections?

They claim it is a one-time tax measure! What a joke and what a deception!

History is full of examples that such special taxes aimed at super rich individuals are doomed to fail. Voting by feet, tax havens are just some examples. Successful expert tax advisors are standing by.

Oh, Governor Gavin Newsom wants a national wealth tax instead. What a clever guy he is! Hopefully, this will dash any prospects he ever becomes a US President!

Caveat: I am not familiar with the details of this proposition!

"The California Democratic Party convened its executive board this past weekend in San Diego to vote on endorsing or opposing the 14 ballot measures that will be decided in the November general election.

The most notable endorsement was for Proposition 40, a one-time tax on billionaires that has now divided the party from the highest-profile Democrats in the state. Gov. Gavin Newsom and gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra have expressed opposition to this proposition. ...

Newsom posted on Substack in June that a state-level tax is the wrong approach to taxing billionaires, and called for a national wealth tax instead. ..."

How many of them were lottery game winners? 😊 [Few, I guess.]

Switzerland continued to top the ranking for average wealth per adult at USD 910,382, followed by the United States and Luxembourg ...

The United States accounted for almost half of newly created millionaires in 2025, adding more than 440,000 individuals, followed by mainland China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, each counting over 2 million millionaires in total. ..."

Global Wealth Report 2026: Global wealth rose over 10% in 2025 (original news release) "In 2025, global wealth expanded at its fastest pace since 2017, marking the third consecutive year of growth. The latest edition of the UBS Global Wealth Report shows a broad-based increase in personal wealth, driven by strong financial markets and rising non‑financial assets, with average wealth growing faster than global economic output. However, gains were uneven, with differences across regions and wealth segments."

Over 140 U.S. living billionaires are immigrants. Only 9 live in Texas.

Texas Governor Abbott is not doing enough to attract billionaires? Just kidding!

"... There were 144 foreign-born billionaires living in the United States in 2026, worth more than $2.2 trillion collectively, Forbes found, compared with 125 immigrant billionaires in 2025 and 92 in 2022. ..."

"... For the second straight year, India is the birthplace of the most immigrant billionaires, with a record 19. That’s up from 12 a year ago thanks to new entrants including venture capitalist Hemant Taneja, semiconductor firm Astera Labs’ cofounders Sanjay Gajendra and Jitendra Mohan, and Palantir's chief technology officer, Shyam Sankar. It’s the only country, in fact, that produced more than one newcomer this year, on top of welcoming five last year. Israel and Taiwan once again follow with 11 apiece. ..."

„Reichensteuer: Aber richtig“ wie Ultrareiche endlich fair besteuert werden können. Wirklich!

Wieder mal Neid und Gier gegen Reiche!

Zahlen nicht Besserverdienende und Reich ehedem schon verhältnismäßig mehr Steuern als der Rest der Steuerzahler? In den USA ist das schon seit Jahrzehnten nachgewiesen worden.

How Putin the Terrible neutralized Russia's billionaires, the oligarchs

Concerning stuff!

When will the lethargic, apathetic Russian Slav(e)s/Serfs finally get rid of their last tsar, the megalomaniac, warmonger and war criminal Putin the Terrible! He is an ugly remnant of the Cold War and a former KGB agent. He is a wannabe Stalin. Please Russian people make the world a better, more peaceful place again! How many more young Russian men will be killed or maimed before you act!

"During the war with Ukraine, the number of billionaires in Russia has reached an all-time high. But in the 25 years Vladimir Putin has been in power, Russia's rich and powerful - known as oligarchs - have lost almost all their political influence.

All this is good news for the Russian president. Western sanctions have failed to turn the uber-rich into his opponents, and his carrot-and-stick policies have turned them into silent backers.

Former banking billionaire Oleg Tinkov knows exactly how the sticks work.

The day after he criticised the war as "crazy" in an Instagram post, his executives were contacted by the Kremlin. They were told his Tinkoff Bank, Russia's second-largest at the time, would be nationalised unless all ties to its founder were cut. ...

Within a week, a company linked to Vladimir Potanin - currently Russia's fifth-richest businessman, who supplies nickel for fighter jet engines - announced that it was buying the bank. It was sold for only 3% of its true value, says Tinkov.

In the end, Tinkov lost almost $9bn (£6.5bn) of the fortune he once had, and left Russia. ...

Russia's most powerful oligarch, Boris Berezovsky, claimed to have orchestrated Putin's ascent to presidency in 2000, and years later he appealed for forgiveness for doing so: "I didn't see the future greedy tyrant and usurper in him, the man who would trample freedom and stop Russia's development," he wrote in 2012.

Berezovsky may have exaggerated his role, but Russia's oligarchs were certainly capable of pulling strings at the highest echelons of power.

A little more than a year after his apology, Berezovsky was found dead in mysterious circumstances in exile in the UK. By that time, Russian oligarchy was well and truly dead, too. ..."

Chinese billionaires are having hundreds of U.S.-born babies via surrogates

What is this about?

"These parents are paying millions to hire women in America’s largely unregulated surrogacy industry. A thriving mini-industry of surrogacy agencies, law firms, clinics, delivery agencies and nanny services are enabling parents to ship genetic material abroad and get a baby delivered back."
