Tel Aviv Stock Exchange again considerably outperforms S&P, NASDAQ, and STOXX Europe 600 in the year 5786

Happy New Year (Rosh Hashanah) Israel!

Unfortunately, I (Google) could not find a chart with historical monthly data from 2000 to 2026! This is bad!

"... In the Jewish year 5786, which in the TASE’s analysis is the period September 25, 2025 to September 4, 2026, the Tel Aviv 35 Index rose by 40.5% ...
In New York, the S&P 500 Index and the Dow Jones Index rose by 16% over the same period, while the Nasdaq rose by 18%.
In Europe, the STOXX Europe 600 Index rose by 17%, and the
MSCI World Index, which tracks the developed countries, rose by 16.5%. ..."

Meet the Texas Stock Exchange: Wall Street Finally Gets Competition as early as 2026

Good news! Competition is good, more competition is better!

Everything is bigger in the Lone Star state! 😊

"... On September 30, 2025, the US Securities and Exchange Commission approved the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) to operate as a national securities exchange.

Headquartered in Dallas and backed by major financial institutions, TXSE plans to begin trading in early 2026 — marking the first serious challenge in decades to the entrenched exchange duopoly and opening a new chapter for American capital markets. ..."

Meet the Texas Stock Exchange: Wall St Finally Gets Competition | The Daily Economy "Backed by major institutions and a booming state economy, the TXSE is positioning itself as a pro-business alternative to the NYSE and Nasdaq."

Chart of the day

This happened yesterday! There is a lot of uncertainty going around in the world not least because of the senile, demented and corrupt 46th U.S. President!

Did Hamas Make Millions Betting Against Israeli Shares Ahead of Attack? with Palki Sharma

Incredible! Did somebody know in advance about the attack and sold Israeli stocks short? Perhaps Hamas? Israel is investigating this suspicious shot selling by one individual.

Handful of Stocks Responsible for Long Term Global Returns

Let this sink in! About the age old question of short versus long term investment and so on.

This research seems to be extremely selective if not preconceived. How did they e.g. come with 2.4%.

"... The top five names contributed 10% of total net global equity wealth creation on their own:
Apple: 23.5%
Microsoft: 19.2%
Amazon: 31.1%
Alphabet/Google: 19.3%
Tencent: 48.1%

Colas highlighted that the top 20 companies were responsible for 20% of total net global equity wealth creation in the sample even though many were not public for the entire period. For example, Amazon went public in 1997. ..."

From the abstract (a very short one for an 89 pages long research paper 😊):
"We study long-run shareholder outcomes for over 64,000 global common stocks during the January 1990 to December 2020 period. We document that the majority, 55.2% of U.S. stocks and 57.4% of non-U.S. stocks, underperform one-month U.S. Treasury bills in terms of compound returns over the full sample. Focusing on aggregate shareholder outcomes, we find that the top-performing 2.4% of firms account for all of the $US 75.7 trillion in net global stock market wealth creation from 1990 to December 2020. Outside the US, 1.41% of firms account for the $US 30.7 trillion in net wealth creation."

Picture of the day: Mobile stock trading platforms for everyone everywhere!

I saw this advertisement today! What happened to responsibility? Ready to loose you last shirt tapping on a small screen? How about addiction? (just kidding)

The ThinkOrSwim trading platform for daytraders and other lay traders has come a long way!

In anticipation of stock market exuberance after the U.S. mid-term elections!

I don't care how short lived, but my wife and I would like to restore the dramatic value lost in our retirement savings invested in stocks!

Will the GOP decidedly win both houses of the U.S. Congress? I trust the American people to make the right decision by tomorrow! The Dimocratic Party and their demented and senile 46th President, Mistress Kamala, and the nutty and erratic Speaker of the House do not deserve anything better!

Lord have mercy!

Buying the Stock-Market Dip Is Backfiring. 2022 is the worst year for buying the stock-market dip since the 1930s.

How many retirement savings have been wiped out thanks to the demented and senile and economic illiterate 46th President?

"Instead of rebounding after a tumble, stocks have kept falling, burning investors who stepped in to try to buy shares on sale. The S&P 500 has dropped 1.2% on average this year in the week after a one-day loss of at least 1%, the biggest such decline since 1931. ..."

All three major U.S. stock markets in bear market now

The news just came out! And the fourth major stock market, i.e the Russel 2000 does not look much better!

This is as serious if not more serious a problem than rising inflation in the U.S. Trillions of Dollars of investments and savings evaporated!

And we have a clueless demented and senile 46th President at the helm!

And as I just commented here, 82 years old Nancy Pelosi has nothing more important to do than joining a drag queen show and lavishly praising them!

God have mercy!

Why Are Stocks Not Traded 24 Hours Every Day?

There Is No Excuse

There is to my knowledge no compelling reason why it could not be done. Forex is traded 24 hours for about six days of the week.

Ordinary Active Traders

Round the clock trading would also allow ordinary people to become more active traders in cash stocks, because they could trade before going to or after coming back from work or on weekends.

Pricing Without Gaps

Round the clock trading would eliminate many oddities of equities trading like the daily opening gap or pre/post market trading or the Monday morning surprise or the after trading material announcements and so on. Thus pricing of stocks would be much smoother and less erratic.
