Michelangelo Dome, Leonardo's new multi-domain integrated defence system for Italy

Iron Beam to become operational this month in Israel side by side with the Iron Dome

Good news!

"... The laser defense system, developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, which is the prime contractor for the laser program, includes three main systems.

The first and largest is Iron Beam 450, an upgrade to the original system, which includes a 450 millimeter aperture beam director instead of 250 millimeters. This provides the system with an upgraded operating range, higher accuracy and extremely high efficiency. Iron Beam is the only system of its kind in the world with laser power as high as 100 kilowatts. The combination of high energy with the aperture beam director allows a range of about 10 kilometers, and high accuracy despite the limitations of the laser.

These limitations include a significant decrease in efficiency during cloudy and hazy conditions, while its major advantage is that each interception costs $5-$10 compared with $30,000 for each Iron Dome interception. Iron Beam works using a a single strong beam that diverges. It launches 100-200 such beams and when the system detects that one beam has hit its target, it instructs all the beams to be on an identical frequency and focus on the target.

Due to the limitations of the laser, Iron Beam and Iron Dome will be deployed side by side, complementing each other."

JPMorganChase to directly invest $10 billion in companies it deems critical to U.S. national security

Wow!

"JPMorgan Chase said Monday that it would directly invest $10 billion in companies it deems critical to U.S. national security, part of an initiative to help protect the American economy as trade tensions with countries such as China escalate.

The bank said it had committed to facilitating $1.5 trillion in investments for companies deemed “critical to national economic security and resiliency” over the next 10 years. That includes the $10 billion of its own capital it plans to use to take stakes in companies such as defense contractors, mineral manufacturers and artificial-intelligence firms. ..."

"“... It has become painfully clear that the United States has allowed itself to become too reliant on unreliable sources of critical minerals, products and manufacturing – all of which are essential for our national security,” said Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorganChase. “Our security is predicated on the strength and resiliency of America’s economy. America needs more speed and investment. It also needs to remove obstacles that stand in the way: excessive regulations, bureaucratic delay, partisan gridlock and an education system not aligned to the skills we need.”

The firm’s effort comes at a time when the U.S. is looking to modernize infrastructure, fortify supply chains, and implement policies that promote growth. JPMorganChase will focus on the following four key areas, supporting companies across all sizes and development stages by offering advice, providing financing, and, in some cases, investing capital:

  • Supply Chain and Advanced Manufacturing, including critical minerals, pharmaceutical precursors and robotics
  • Defense and Aerospace, including defense technology, autonomous systems, drones, next-gen connectivity and secure communications
  • Energy Independence and Resilience, including battery storage, grid resilience and distributed energy
  • Frontier and Strategic Technologies, including AI, cybersecurity and quantum computing

The global arms industry: Warfare Over Welfare. Really!

When the naive, lefty medical profession and academia criticize the Western defense industry! Useful idiots?

For perspective: Typically, western countries spend only 1-3% of their government budgets on defense!

If any doctor had the courage to poison megalomaniacs and warmongers like Putin the Terrible, maybe then the world would be a better place and less weapons would be needed! How about that idea?

"The global arms industry should be viewed as a commercial determinant of health, similar to tobacco and fossil fuels [???], a new landmark series in The BMJ [British Medical Journal] asserts.

Beyond war zones: One analysis outlines how arms production and use fuel long-term public health crises [???] by:
Disrupting health and food systems
Diverting funds from critically needed health infrastructure
Increasing deadly access to firearms in civilian settings
Harming the environment through pollution and contamination
Low-income regions are consistently most vulnerable to such detrimental impacts.

Industry influence: Much like the tobacco, alcohol, and fossil fuel industries, arms companies use lobbying, media, research funding, and “militainment” to shape policy and public perception, found another analysis of industry tactics.

Confronting the machine: The health sector must challenge the arms industry with the same resistance applied to Big Tobacco or Big Oil, argued editors in one of the series’ op-eds—exposing harms, advocating for peace and disarmament, and pushing for a shift in government spending from weapons to public welfare."

"The BMJ Series on the arms industry as a commercial determinant of health uncovers the role of the arms trade in health and calls for more scrutiny of its health-harming activities and its unhealthy relationship with governments.

An international group of experts lay out the direct and wider harms of arms and show how weapons manufacturers use commercial strategies to subvert public health agendas and shape discourse around security and violence.

The Series argues that, like the tobacco, alcohol, and fossil fuel industries, the arms industry should be seen as a commercial determinant of health, where corporate practices matter as much as products when considering how industries can harm health."
