New ‘Spider-Man’ Movie Scores Hollywood’s Second-Biggest Debut Ever. Really!

Hollywood movies have become so boring! In my estimation, this has been going since the beginning of the 21st century if not since the end of the 20th century!

I personally never much liked the Spider Man cartoons as I grew up. Spider Man cartoons were first published in 1962!

With declining diversity, the U.S. theatrical film industry faces an uncertain future. Really!

More DEI nonsense!

Diversity by itself does not good or even great movies make! Obsession with DEI may have also contributed, besides making US movies more palatable to international audiences, to the decline of Hollywood great movie making in the past several decades!

"Key takeaways
  • The UCLA team’s latest release on theatrical film finds the industry missing opportunities to support diverse filmmakers and bring audiences back to the theater as Hollywood loses footing to foreign productions.
  • Horror, the most common genre last year and a favorite of Black and Latino audiences, had the highest median return on investment, and demonstrates a potential place for profit growth.
  • Representation for women onscreen and behind the camera showed volatility, as female employment metrics hit a downward trend after last year’s highs, falling to 2022 and even 2018 levels.

Jurassic World Rebirth movie. Really!

For many years Hollywood has been out of good ideas for new movies! US movies have become so boring! Yawn, yawn!

Too many sequels of mediocre movies! How many sequels are there for the e.g. great movie Casablanca (1942, Director: Michael Curtiz, Actors: Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman)? Basically none! Perhaps, imitations! It was a unique movie with a distinct character!

The globalization of the US movie industry was a bad move! You can not please everyone!

"Jurassic World Rebirth stormed into theaters this Fourth of July weekend with a $147 million domestic debut and $318 million globally, marking a major comeback for the dino franchise. (See Details)"

The Final Reckoning for Tom Cruise at age 62

Is it not about time movie studios find some younger actors! How many more remakes?

Will he still be making action movies while in a wheelchair? Maybe it would become a blockbuster!

25 years after Gladiator another Gladiator movie

For many years, Hollywood has become so boring and is so out of good ideas!

Then there is the attention to political correctness!

Do we have to wait for another Charlie Chaplin or Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, Steven Spielberg ...?

P.S. I did not even watch the first one!

Tom Cruise u.a. Altstars etc. werden eines Tages im Rollstuhl zum Drehort gefahren.

Deepfakes against movie profanity to lower the movie rating from R to PG

Did these clever movie makers also consider that some adults will not watch this now tame, lame sounding thriller anymore!

"Fall, a thriller about two friends who climb a 2,000-foot tower only to find themselves trapped at the top, originally included over 30 instances of a certain offensive word. The filmmakers deepfaked the picture to clean up the language, enabling the film to earn a rating that welcomes younger viewers ...
Following the revisions, the Motion Picture Association changed the film’s rating from R, which requires audience members under 17 years old to be accompanied by an adult, to PG-13, which is open to all ages.  ..."

New Hollywood movie celebrates a former African kingdom built on slave labor and it was a major supplier of slaves to Europeans

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana. Or in this case, those who refuse or ignore to learn history first are condemned to look like utter fools!

The inherent and huge contradictions of the skin color ideology are wonderfully revealed!

"The left’s obsession with centering everything on race and sex has reached a new and despicable low with an upcoming movie called “The Woman King.”
The “historical epic film” centers around the real African kingdom of Dahomey, which existed during the Scramble for Africa in the age of empires, around 1800 to 1904.
Viola Davis plays General Nanisca, leader of an all-female band of warriors known as the Dahomey Amazons, as she struggles against European attempts to conquer the kingdom.  ...
Except for the horrific reality of how the kingdom of Dahomey treated its neighbors on the African continent.
The kingdom built its legacy on conquest, waging endless wars against those neighbors.
Dahomey had to field the anomalous Amazonian army not because the kingdom had modern sensibilities, but because so many of its men were slaughtered in pursuit of expansion that it was forced to conscript women.
On top of that, the kingdom built its economy on slavery. Yes, contrary to what the radical left tries to ignore, Africans were just as willing to participate in the slave trade as Europeans were.  ..."

On the latest Tom Cruise Top Gun movie

The latest sign that the movie industry for quite some years has run out of ideas!

The first Top Gun movie came out with Tom Cruise in 1986 when he was 24 years old! Now Tom Cruise is 59 years old!

Will Tom Cruise still be making these Top Gun movies until they lift him into the cockpit with a wheel chair? Pardon my facetiousness!

Old actors never die, they only fade away! 😄

I suspect, in about 10-20 years from now there will be no more human pilots flying air force combat planes. Tom Cruise can finally and officially retire!

Why Do U.S. Movies Suck In Recent Years?

Posted: 6/14/2019

For the past 20 or more years, Hollywood has aimed its big budget movies at a global audience, because of tremendous revenue growth and opportunities overseas. As a result, a lot of movies have become an awful compromise to please as many people as possible. Add to that the obsession with political correctness and progressive leanings and you have a recipe for disaster!

Just read The Connection Between Hollywood and China. Here we learn (emphasis added):
  1. “The majority of Americans probably have no idea when they buy a ticket to the latest blockbuster that the film they’re about to see was either partially financed by China or altered because of it.”
  2. “In the last several years, there hasn’t been a more powerful influence over Hollywood than the communist regime—and with Chinese ticket sales set to overtake the U.S., the situation is only going to get worse.”
  3. “”And they’re [Hollywood movie makers] quite open about it. They don’t hide it. They’re quite happy to submit to the censorship of the Chinese Communist Party.””

As for me, I have not watched any new U.S. movie in almost a decade or so. I want to remember the great American movie tradition as it was up until Hollywood went global!

Movie Review: The Wolf Of Wall Street

Posted: 12/28/2014

Trigger

Just watched this movie of 2013 with Leonardo DiCaprio as main actor and Martin Scorsese as director. Usually, I do not write Hollywood movie reviews on my blog.

This movie did not win any Oscar, but it was nominated in several categories like best actor and best director. On the IMDB website it is rated as 8.3 on a scale of 10 by about 488,000 users as of 12/28/2014.

The real man behind this movie, Mr. Jordan Belfort, wrote a memoir on which this movie is based, but Wikipedia notes “The truthfulness of Belfort's book and the film is a controversial subject.”.

Review

This movie has a length of 180 minutes, this is about 90 minutes to long. This movie is so repetitive and shallow. It is close to being a soft porno. DiCaprio’s performance was excellent throughout the movie.

More disturbing are the over and over used cliches or stereotypes of stockbrokers or stock traders as sleaze bags, oversexed (sex multiple times a day in the office and elsewhere, surrounded by nude women almost anywhere and anytime), constantly cocaine snorting and seriously drug  addicted. In this respect this movie is way over the top.

A New Analysis On Western Movies

A New Book From The Ludwig Von Mises Institute

In this book, I admit I have not read it, the author claims that well known cowboy movies from the post World War II period by such renown directors as John Ford, Howard Hawks, or Anthony Mann contain significant anti Capitalist messages.

Here is a salient quote from the book’s advertisement:
“Ryan McMaken shows that the Western is in fact often anti-capitalist, and in many ways, the genre attacks the dominant ideology of nineteenth-century America: classical liberalism. … In addition to attacks on capitalism, the Western attacks other prized values of the bourgeois middle classes including Christianity, education and urbanization.”

Subversion Made In Hollywood

It is kind of established that a majority of academia in the US is left leaning, progressive minded and for big government.

I would not be surprised if something similar has not occurred in the US film industry. From the perspective of Socialist minded people with influence what would have more a subtle or not so subtle impact on millions of unsuspecting viewers of every age year after year than movies with subversive messages. To distribute political messages via popular movies is a temptation do gooders or progressives cannot resist.

Mary Poppins

I plan to write a blog on this movie, because, in my opinion, it is full of subversive messages against Capitalism and moral values.
