China opens police station to spy on and harass Chinese residing in Israel

I blogged here just two days ago about illegal Chinese police stations in foreign countries. Disturbing developments!

"China has opened a police station in Israel to spy on Chinese nationals abroad, according to the NGO Safeguard Defenders.
The station is one of 110 around the world cited by the Madrid-based organization, which seeks to support civil society groups and human rights lawyers in Asia. ...
Safeguard Defenders says the police stations, most of which are in Europe, are used to harass and silence Chinese nationals and dissidents living abroad, and to persuade them to return to China. ...
China authorities have been open about persuading individuals to return, saying in the summer of 2022 that some 230,000 people labeled as "fugitives" had been "persuaded to return" between April 2021 and July 2022, according to Safeguard Defenders. ...
Some of the police stations have been set up in cooperation with the host country; the Foreign Ministry declined to comment on whether this is the case in Israel. ...
The Netherlands and Ireland shut down Chinese police stations for illegal actions in recent months. ...
Chinese students in Israel told The Jerusalem Post earlier this year that they had been approached to collect information for the Chinese Communist Party. ..."

Operation dragon net: How China is setting up illegal police stations globally

Very recommendable, but also very concerning!
What! Chinese has at least 100 police stations in 53 countries around the world! This is shocking!
Chines police officers are harassing Chinese individuals residing or living in foreign countries.
They are monitoring the Chinese diaspora , asylum seekers, and dissidents abroad.
It is estimated that up to 230,000 of those Chinese were asked to return to China.
E.g. Italy is believed to have 11 such police stations. Italy's Chinese diaspora is estimated at 340,000.
Why is the West silent about this?

Leaked Documents Outline Department of Homeland Security’s Plans to Police Disinformation

The Homeland Security Act of 2002 was back then already a very controversial law that was born out of the immense shock over the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Understandably, our elected representatives wanted to show resolve!

Could it be that the vast powers granted to the DHS are being abused to spy on citizens and for censorship?

Could it be that the law does not even contain such things as monitoring or investigations into free speech of U.S. citizens? You would think so!

Should the GOP takeover both houses, perhaps it is high time to scrap or revise the law to prevent such abuses by the DHS!

"... Key Takeaways
  1. Though DHS shuttered its controversial Disinformation Governance Board, a strategic document reveals the underlying work is ongoing.
  2. DHS plans to target inaccurate information on “the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine.”
  3. Facebook created a special portal for DHS and government partners to report disinformation directly. ..."

Number of uncovered Chinese police stations around the world 'growing'

If confirmed, this is very serious stuff! Over 54 such covert police stations in about 30 countries, many of them in Western countries! That is extraordinary!

Our Dress Rehearsal for a Police State

Recommendable! Sometimes Dennis Prager is spot on! In this piece, Dennis Prager appears to be more outspoken and direct than usual! Indeed, facing a pandemic caused by a fairly harmless virus police states emerged in many Western countries to shut down much of the economy and to quarantine its citizens! This lesson should not be lossed on anyone!

Our Dress Rehearsal for a Police State: The federal, state, county, and city governments are now restricting almost every freedom except those of travel and speech, and police are enforcing it.
