A second, secret Chinese biolab found on US soil?

Serious stuff, if confirmed!

"...

The secret Chinese lab apparently was not one of a kind. SWAT officers with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department raided a home in the city's northeast end on Jan. 31, discovering a suspected illegal biolab apparently linked to the Chinese national who owned the Reedley site. ...

that "the home was owned by the same individual connected to a prior, illegal bio-lab investigation in Reedley, California, that occurred in 2023." ..."

Jaw-Dropping $1.5 Trillion Lithium Find at the Oregon-Nevada border

Good news! However, these news were already reported back 9 months ago or even 2 years ago.

Grr, I don't particularly like it when news is regurgitated like this without proper credits or checks! Shoddy/sloppy journalism!

"A newly confirmed, high-grade lithium deposit valued at approximately $1.5 trillion has been discovered along the Oregon-Nevada border, potentially a massive domestic source for electric-vehicle batteries and grid storage."

"... Core samples point to lithium hosted in zinnwaldite, a mica‑type mineral that can be processed with more targeted techniques than many clay‑rich deposits. The surrounding formation appears to be the weathered remnant of a caldera, where volcanic fluids circulated and left behind concentrated veins over geologic time. ..."

Several hundreds of thousands of Non-citizen Voting Could Affect Outcome in These 7 Swing States

Mind boggling!

Add to this the enormously flawed and inaccurate voter rolls in many states. I recently blogged here, here about it.

Remember, in Arizona less than 12,000 votes determined the winner in the 2020 presidential elections.

"Noncitizens number in the hundreds of thousands in each of the seven most fiercely contested battleground states expected to decide the Nov. 5 presidential election, and research suggests more than 1 million of them could vote nationally if past voting patterns continue. ...

Of the seven battleground states,
Georgia has the largest number of adult noncitizens at 787,588 ...

North Carolina follows with 726,079 noncitizens, ...

The third highest number of noncitizens in a battleground state is
Arizona, with 611,717 ages 18 or older. ...

Pennsylvania has 516,123 voting-age noncitizens ...
Michigan has 271,138.
Nevada is next with 258,736 and
Wisconsin, with 129,600, has the smallest number of noncitizens among the seven swing states ..."

CES 2024: Transparent TV sets are coming

This seems to be a eye catcher at CES 2024 in Las Vegas! Do they make much sense in your living room? But in other environments ...

It appears also many photographers have some difficulties to catch a good picture of it.

Disgruntled professor who went on University of Nevada Las Vegas shooting spree had target list, 150 rounds; mailed letters with white powder

A semi-retired professor! That is a bit unusual!

"... Police confirmed Thursday that the shooter was the 67-year-old academic who ... worked as an associate professor at East Carolina University in North Carolina from 2001 until 2017. ...
on his personal website, reportedly applied for a professorship at UNLV but was unsuccessful. Officials indicated he had also been rejected from various other colleges and universities. ..."

What Happens in Las Vegas … Must Be Reported to Big Brother?

Once famous, free wheeling and dealing Las Vegas is loosing it? Clark County is run by Dimocrats! Dimocrats have a way of ruining cities!

"The Goldwater Institute and the Liberty Justice Center filed a brief in the Nevada Supreme Court yesterday in support of property owners challenging the constitutionality of Clark County’s outrageously intrusive regulations of home-sharing. Those regulations force people who rent out their homes for under 30 days to video-record people going in and out of the house, and to turn those recordings over to the government upon demand, and without a warrant. They also force property owners to turn over financial records to the government—again without a warrant—and to allow government inspectors into the homes to search bedrooms, bathrooms, and other locations…once more, without a warrant. ...
But the Clark County ordinance imposes even more extreme limits than these. It actually prohibits “parties,” which it defines as “any gathering of more than 10 people, or more than two people per bedroom in the house, whichever is less.” In other words, if you rent a house that has two bedrooms, you’re only allowed to have four people at your Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter whether you’re making noise or not, or whether you’ve got too many cars parked in the street or not—the county is going to tell you what kinds of social gatherings you’re allowed to host. ..."

New evidence suggests McDermitt Caldera on the Oregon/Nevada border may be among the largest known lithium reserves in the world

Good news!

"A trio of volcanologists and geologists from Lithium Americas Corporation, GNS Science, and Oregon State University reports evidence that the McDermitt Caldera, on the Nevada/Oregon, border, may host some of the largest known deposits of lithium on Earth.  ...
In 2017, another team of researchers found evidence that one part of the caldera called Thacker Pass could be among the largest sources of lithium ever found. Lithium Americas obtained a stake at the site and began testing mining operations. Soon thereafter, they ran into opposition from locals and Native American groups, but eventually won the right to mine at the site. ..."

From the abstract:
"Developing a sustainable supply chain for the global proliferation of lithium ion batteries in electric vehicles and grid storage necessitates the extraction of lithium resources that minimize local environmental impacts. Volcano sedimentary lithium resources have the potential to meet this requirement, as they tend to be shallow, high-tonnage deposits with low waste:ore strip ratios. Illite-bearing Miocene lacustrine sediments within the southern portion of McDermitt caldera (USA) at Thacker Pass contain extremely high lithium grades (up to ~1 weight % of Li), more than double the whole-rock concentration of lithium in smectite-rich claystones in the caldera and other known claystone lithium resources globally (<0.4 weight % of Li). Illite concentrations measured in situ range from ~1.3 to 2.4 weight % of Li within fluorine-rich illitic claystones. The unique lithium enrichment of illite at Thacker Pass resulted from secondary lithium- and fluorine-bearing hydrothermal alteration of primary neoformed smectite-bearing sediments, a phenomenon not previously identified."

New Hope for Patients: Goldwater Institute Expands Right to Try in Nevada

Good news! The right to try e.g. new medications or medical treatments should be expanded beyond terminally ill patients! It is understandable that terminal ill patients were the first group for which to introduce this new right, but other patients deserve it too!

"Nearly 10 years ago, a tidal wave of patient-centric healthcare reform began to sweep America when Colorado became the first state to enact the Right to Try, a groundbreaking Goldwater Institute law that allowed terminally ill patients to seek potentially lifesaving treatments without begging the federal government for permission. Goldwater would go on to enact Right to Try in 40 more states and, in 2018, at the federal level. Now, a new wave of reform has begun as Nevada today became the second state to adopt Goldwater’s Right to Try for Individualized Treatments, which extends the Right to Try to cutting-edge, highly specialized treatments that are tailor-made for each individual. ..."

Nevada governor slams Biden for locking up 500,000 acres of mineral-rich land in new federal monuments

This egregious past and current land grab by the federal government is very concerning! When environmentalism trumps reason and economic development!

Monumental government failures and interventions! When environmentalism goes way beyond reasonable!

"Gov. Joe Lombardo (R-NV) blasted President Joe Biden on Tuesday for locking up 500,000 acres of mineral-rich land in Nevada and Texas. He said the move would be tough on Nevadans for generations.
Lombardo said the White House did not respond to any of his concerns before the announcement of the 506,000-acre Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in southern Nevada. ..."
