How many women in the UK have to endure an agonising wait for years to have breast reconstruction after mastectomy?

Is this not typical for government run healthcare like in the UK with the National Health Service (NHS)!

"Gail Agar waited eight years for breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy in 2016 to treat her breast cancer. She is one of several women in Scotland who have experienced prolonged delays. “I just want to feel like a woman again,” says Agar. Breast reconstruction takes more than 12 hours and significant hospital resources, but long waiting periods can cause psychological distress. Jenni Christieson, who has waited three years for breast-reconstruction surgery after losing a breast to cancer, says, "I used to be a salsa dancer but I won't do that any more. I'm so aware of not being looked at.” ..."

"'I've waited eight years for the surgery. Do I still want it?'"
