The US HHS Department has launched a new research program aimed at dramatically reducing the cost and duration of clinical trials

Good news! Bravo Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.!

In the past too much precaution has made clinical trials too complicated, expensive and taking up way too much time!

"... The initiative, called SURPASS, aims to develop new trial methods that require fewer patients than conventional trials, combine traditional trial phases, reduce administrative overhead, and make greater use of artificial intelligence. To develop those methods, the agency is seeking trial design proposals from research teams to evaluate drug candidates using their proposed methods."

"...
  • The Simulation-augmented, Real-time Platform Adaptive Seamless Trials (SURPASS) program aims to modernize today’s clinical trials so they can evaluate drugs and biologics faster, at lower cost, and with fewer participants than conventional approaches.
  • SURPASS seeks to build perpetual, adaptive platform trials that combine predictive computational models, shared trial infrastructure, common control groups, and real-time analysis to enable earlier, smarter decision making that will help speed effective drugs to patients.
