Settlement ‘in principle’ reached in $30 million Ashli Babbitt wrongful death lawsuit

There was only one individual directly killed by deadly force during the so called January 6th US Capitol insurrection! An unarmed woman shot by a US Capitol police officer in a group of presumably unarmed people in a corridor inside the building.

Would a warning shot not have been enough to stop the group from advancing any further in this situation? I think so. Was this a case of use of excessive force by a police officer? Quite possibly!

Hopefully, the settlement money (whatever the final amount) will be put to good use!

"A“settlement in principle” has been reached in the $30 million federal wrongful death lawsuit by the estate of Ashli Babbitt against the federal government, two attorneys said in a hearing in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., on Friday afternoon.

No terms were disclosed in a hastily called hearing before U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes. "
